So now you have one or two accounts set up in Quicken and you can download transactions and use categories to see where your money is going. What\u2019s next? What more could there be? Beyond tracking your spending, Quicken actually makes it easier to spend your money. And we mean that in a good way!<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re like most people, you have pretty much the same bills every month and you get paid on a regular schedule. If you tell Quicken what your bills are, and when you expect income, it can remind you when your bills are due, and project your account balances into the future. This will help you avoid late fees and overdraft charges, and perhaps put some of that \u201cextra money\u201d you might have into your savings account. Imagine that! Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n<p>1. Click the\u00a0<strong>Home<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quicken.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Home-tab_9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"116\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Click\u00a0<strong>Get Started<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0<strong>Stay on Top of\u00a0Monthly Bills<\/strong>\u00a0section.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quicken.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Monthly-bills_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3. Click\u00a0<strong>Add a bill<\/strong>\u00a0to tell Quicken about any bills\u00a0it doesn\u2019t know about yet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quicken.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Stay-on-top-review_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong>\u00a0to change\u00a0the details of a bill, such\u00a0as when it\u2019s due, the\u00a0amount, etc. Click\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>\u00a0and tell Quicken about\u00a0your paycheck and other\u00a0income you may have.<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>When you\u2019ve finished,<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Stay on Top of Monthly Bills<\/strong>\u00a0section on the Home tab lists your upcoming bills and any income for the selected date range. Bill Reminders in your Register<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After you set up your bill (or income) reminders, you can choose to show them in your Register, so you can see what impact your planned spending will have on your account balance. Click the reminder icon in the first column to act on the reminders: update the amount when you get a bill, enter the reminder when you\u2019re ready to pay, or skip reminders that you\u2019ve already taken care of.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quicken.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Register_with20Reminders_6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"356\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tip: You can change the time period for the reminders to display (next 7 days, next 30 days, etc.).
