Unable to Update Bank of America Accounts Using SafePass Security Feature

Overview

While attempting to activate or refresh your Bank of America accounts with SafePass enabled, you may recieve one of the following errors:

  • CC-585 (Quicken for Windows)
  • CC-185 (Quicken Essentials for Mac)
  • CC-592 (Quicken for Windows)
  • CC-192 (Quicken Essentials for Mac)

Cause

Bank of America's SafePass™ feature may be interfering with this process.

Instructions

You may need to change your SafePass™ settings temporarily to add your account to Quicken:

  1. Go to the Bank of America website and sign in to your account.
  2. Go to the I want to... box and select View SafePass Settings.
  3. On the SafePass settings page, make sure the setting below is turned Off (you will have to authorize this with a SafePass Code):
    • Verify my identity with SafePass instead of SiteKey challenge questions. (Off) 
  4. Important: Sign out of the Bank of America website.
  5. In Quicken, try again to add your Bank of America account.
  6. Once successful, go back to the Bank of America website and sign in to your account.
  7. Go to the I want to... box and select View SafePass Settings.
  8. On the SafePass settings page, change Verify my identity with SafePass instead of SiteKey challenge questions back to (On) - (you will have to authorize this with a SafePass Code). This will insure you have the full protection from SafePass.
