Error 2259 When Using Quicken Online Backup: Registration Not Complete


This error occurs if the installation was unable to write to the registry correctly or if incorrect registration information was entered into the application.


  1. Navigate to the location where Quicken Online Backup is installed. The default location is C:\Program Files\Online Backup.
  2. Run personalizeregistry.exe or backupsettings.exe.
  3. Enter the Quicken Online Backup account ID and password.
  4. Attempt to use Quicken Online Backup.

If the error persists:

  1. Uninstall Quicken Online Backup.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Log on as Administrator.
  4. Reinstall Quicken Online Backup:
    1. Windows XP: Follow the instructions in reinstalling Quicken Online Backup.
    2. Windows® VistaTM or Windows 7:
      1. Download the program to your desktop.
      2. Right-click the program and select Run as Administrator.
      3. Follow the installation steps.
