Message: "Drive is not accessible" when trying to back up to a CD

Overview

One of the following messages occurs:

  1. "Drive is not accessible"
  2. "Device is not ready"
  3. "Unable to access the disk in drive [drive letter]"
  4. "Can't open file"

Instructions

These messages appear when the CD has not been properly formatted. If you are unable to resolve the formatting issues, your best bet is to use a workaround that bypasses the CD formatting requirements.
