Securities Are Being Updated With the Price For a Different Security

If your security is not tracked on a major exchange, its ticker may be used by another company. A common workaround is to create a generic ticker symbol for the company and do manual updates.  In most cases securities not being updated is caused by the security having an incorrect ticker symbol.

To check the ticker symbol:

  1. From the Quicken Investing menu, choose Security List.
  2. Select the security in question, and then click Edit.
  3. Verify that the correct ticker symbol is entered in the Symbol field.
Note: For additional information about the ticker symbol, click Look Up.
  4. Try to download the quotes.

NOTE:  If the issue persists, create a New Quicken Data file, and then try to download the quotes. If the wrong price is downloaded again, there may be a problem with the server. Please try the download again on the next business day.  If the quotes download correctly in a new data file, and the ticker symbol is correct in the original file, troubleshoot for data damage.
