Change the font and font size used in registers
- Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
- In the left pane, click Register.
- In the right pane, click Fonts.
- Select the font family and size you want to use in your registers and lists.
You can preview an example of the font at the bottom of the dialog. (To return to the default Quicken font setting, choose Reset.)
Note: These settings will not work for investment accounts.
Change the name that appears at the top of the register
This is the account name. You can change it by editing the account.
Change the sort order of transactions in the register
- Click a column heading to sort by that column.
- Up and down arrows indicate the current sort.
For example click the Date column heading to sort by Date/Amount. Transactions are sorted by the entry in their Date fields. If two or more transactions have the same date entry, the deposits appear before the payments. Or click the Clr column heading to list all reconciled (R) transactions first, then transactions you've attempted to reconcile (c), and then all remaining transactions. - Move the mouse over the column headings for additional information (flyover help).
Change the way your register works
- Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
- In the left pane, click Register.
- In the right pane, make the changes you want. If you need additional assistance understanding the available choices, see the register preferences topic.
- Click OK to save your changes.
These settings do not work for investment accounts.
Change the way QuickFill works
- Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
- In the left pane, select Data entry and QuickFill.
- In the right pane, make the changes you want. If you need additional assistance understanding the available choices, see the QuickFill preferences topic.
- Click OK to save your changes.
Show transactions on one or two lines
- From your account register:
- In Quicken 2013: Select the Actions gear icon at the very top of your register (Ctrl + Shift + N)
- In Quicken 2012 and older: click on Account Actions
- Then select or deselect 'two-line display.'
- Switching to One-Line Display does not affect your data; it changes only the representation of the account you're working with.
- With One-Line Display selected, the register hides the contents of the Memo fields and moves the Category fields up to the same line as the Payee field. This lets you display twice as many transactions on the screen. Online payment status indicators are not shown while a register is in one-line display mode.
- With One-Line Display off, each transaction takes up two lines, and the Memo fields reappear.
Change the colors used in registers
In the default color settings:
- Reconciled and cleared transactions appear slightly dimmed.
- Future transactions are shaded blue.
- The selected transaction (that is, the transaction you are currently editing) is more distinct and obvious.
Edit the colors
- Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
- In the left pane, click Register.
- In the right pane, click Colors.
- Select the colors you want to use in your registers. To return to the default Quicken color setting, choose Restore Defaults.
Note: Colors for investment accounts are not customizable.
