How do I use the Windows Close Program or Task Manager utility
Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs are applications that are activated when the computer is first started, such as screen savers, antivirus programs, and background utilities. TSRs may divert computer resources that are needed by Quicken, especially on older or less powerful computers.
To exit unresponsive programs as well as unnecessary TSRs:
•Restart your computer. If you are on a network, don't log on to the network after restarting your computer.
•Follow the instructions below to use the Close Program or Task Manager utility.
In Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP
- Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE.
- Click the Task List or Task Manager button.
- Click the Applications tab. This tab displays a list of all programs that are currently running.
- Exit a program by selecting it from the list and then clicking the End Task button. (Be aware that when you exit a program in this manner, you will lose any unsaved information in that program.)
- Repeat the previous step for each program you want to exit.
