Quicken Windows: Menu or Drop-down Items Missing or Not Working

Issue Description

When working in Quicken, some menu items or drop downs become unusable in Quicken.

Solution

This issue is caused when Windows display properties are set to Large Fonts.  Quicken Requires small fonts in order to display properly. 

Windows XP/Vista:

  1. From the Microsoft® Windows® Start menu, choose Settings, and then choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Click the Settings tab:
    1. In the Colors section, verify that the settings are at a minimum of 256 Colors.
    2. In the Screen Area section, adjust the settings with the arrow to a minimum of 800 by 600 pixels.
  4. Click Advanced, and then in the Display section, verify that the Font Size is set to use Small Fonts.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK within the Display Properties window.
  6. Restart your computer, and then start Quicken.

Windows 7:

  1. Close Quicken, and all other applications.
  2. From the Microsoft® Windows® Start menu, choose Settings, and then choose Control Panel.
  3. Click on "Adjust Screen Resolution"
  4. Click on "Make text and other items larger or smaller"
    1. Select "Smaller - 100% (default)
  5. Click Apply, and then click Log Off.
  6. Log back in to your computer, and then start Quicken.
