Error 1305: Error reading from file

The following error occurs when installing Quicken:

Error 1305. Error reading from file [drive letter]:\Program Files\Quicken\[file name]. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

To resolve this issue:

  1. On your hard drive, find the file that is referenced in the error message.
  2. Right-click the file in the Search Results and select Properties.
  3. On the General tab, under Attributes, clear the Read-only checkbox.
  4. Click OK.

If you were not able to resolve this issue using the steps above, install Quicken while running in Safe Mode.
