How to move from Quicken Bill Pay to Quicken Bill Manager
What's happening?
As of August 31st, 2020, Quicken Bill Pay was discontinued. Quicken has moved to a new Bill Pay platform to improve your experience. Quicken Bill Manager has three parts:
Online Bill Center: Get your latest bills downloaded into Quicken.
Quick Pay: Send electronic payments to billers (payees) that you've added to the Online Bill Center. This includes over 11,000 billers.
Check Pay: Send a check to anyone in the United States with an address. The check is sent through a Quicken service. You will no longer need to print or mail checks.

What do I need to do?
If you're currently using Quicken Bill Pay, you'll need to start using Quicken Bill Manager to continue paying your bills through Quicken. To do this, you'll need to:
- Enable payment accounts for Quick Pay and Check Pay.
- Add Online Billers for Quick Pay.
- Add Manual Bills for Check Pay.
Note: You can use your existing Bill Pay payees to create Check Pay payees by copying them to Bill Manager, or you can recreate your payees in Bill Manager; the online payees you have with Quicken Bill Pay are not the same as the Online Billers you'll use with Quick Pay.

Video: How to set up Quick Pay and Check Pay
The sets of steps below need to be followed in the order shown.
Step 1: Verify the Bills & Income tab is set to show
You will use the Bills & Income tab to set up and use Quicken Bill Manager. If you do not see the Bills & Income tab, you just need to add it to your tabs to show.
- Go to View > Tabs to show.
- Select the Bills & Income tab from the list.
Step 2: Add an online bill
Important: If you already have Online Bills set up, you can skip to the next step, Enable a payment account for Quick Pay. Please note, online bills are not the same as online payees you have set up with Quicken Bill Pay.
- Go to the Bills & Income tab, then click Get Started.
If you do not see the Get Started button, click the + (plus sign) in the upper-right corner of the Bills & Income screen and select Online Bill.
- Search for the name of the biller you wish to add.
- Enter the login credentials you use for that biller's website and click Next. Quicken will then authenticate the account and search for bills.
- After the biller is added, a confirmation screen will follow.
- You can then choose to add another bill or click Done to finish.
Step 3: Enable a payment account for Quick Pay
- In the Bills & Income tab, click the gear icon in the upper right.
- Select Set up Quicken Bill Manager.
- Review the getting started slides and click Next, then click Get Started.
- After reading the information on the You need to know this screen, click Continue.
- In the Payment Accounts for Quicken Bill Manager screen, select the payment account (usually checking) that you want to use to pay bills, and select Enable.
- In the Enable Payment Account screen, click Copy from billpay.
- Fill out the Date of Birth (account holder) and Address (your mailing address) fields.
- Click Save.
Once you have entered your payment account information, you’ll see a verification screen letting you know that you can now immediately use the account for Quick Pay payments.
Now, you have options:
If you only want to use Quick Pay: Click Done, then click Done again in the Payment Accounts for Quicken Bill Manager screen to return to the Bills & Income tab and start paying bills immediately with Quick Pay (you can always add Check Pay later).
If you also want to use Check Pay: There is a verification process to enable a payment account for Check Pay. Continue to Step 4 for this process.
Step 4: Enable an account for Check Pay (optional)
If you have bills that aren't online, such as a landscaper or babysitter, you can enable an account for Check Pay and pay these manual bills directly from Quicken. First, you'll add your Check Pay account, and then you'll add a Manual Bill (Step 5).
- Go to the Bills & Income tab, click the gear icon on the upper right, and select Payment Accounts.
- Once you are back in the Payment Accounts for Quicken Bill Manager screen, click the Begin Verification button next to the account you want to enable for Check Pay. Note: in order to enable an account for Check Pay, it must be enabled for Quick Pay first (see Step 3).
- After clicking Begin Verification, follow the on-screen prompts. Then, click Done.
- Within the next three days, two micro-deposits will appear in your account. Check your register for the micro-deposits (they will display the payee name, Sp Quicken). Please note, these micro-deposits will be withdrawn by Check Pay at a later time, however, the amounts will still be valid for the verification process.
- When the micro-deposits appear in the register, go to the Bills & Income tab and click the Account needs verification message above the billers list.
- Select Verify.
- Enter the deposit amounts and click Verify Account.
- Click Done.
If your amounts are correct, your account will now be enabled for Check Pay. The Payment Accounts for Quicken Bill Manager screen will also display confirmation that the account is enabled for Check Pay.
Step 5: Adding a manual bill for Check Pay (optional)
To pay a bill with Check Pay, you'll need to add a Check Pay Payee. This will enable you to copy your Payee information from Quicken Bill Pay.
- Select the Bills & Income tab.
- Click + (plus sign).
- Select Check Pay Payee.
- In the Add Payee screen, enter the name of an existing Bill Pay payee in the Payee field and click Copy info from Billpay. Fill out the remaining fields and click Save.
- Verify the address you have given. Review your address and select Done.
- Select Allow paying with Check Pay. Note: If you don't see the Check Pay option, make sure that you've selected an account that's enabled for Check Pay in the From account dropdown list.
- Click Done on the Add Bill Reminder screen.
- The new bill will appear on the Biller list on the Bills & Income tab, with the default action Check Pay.
Once you've completed the steps for all your payees, you're all set!

Quicken for Mac
Before you get started with the steps below, we recommend you review these two videos--they'll give you a walkthrough of the process of setting up Bill Manager:
Video: How to add an Online Biller in Quicken Bill Manager
Video: How to set up Quick Pay and Check Pay
The sets of steps below need to be followed in the order shown.
Enabling a payment account for Quick Pay
- To enable a Quick Pay payment account, select Bill Pay > Quick Pay > Add/Edit Payment Account from the main menu.
- Select the account you would like to enable and click OK.
- In the Payment Account screen, you will need to fill out the following information, then select Save.
- Account Number

- Date of Birth (Account Holder)
- Once you have entered your payment account information, you’ll see a verification screen letting you know that you can now use the account for Quick Pay payments.
Enabling a payment account for Check Pay
If you also want to use Check Pay, you will need to verify the account by recording two micro-payments (payments of between $.01 and $.99) that will be made to your account. The payments may take up to three days to appear.
- To start the process, select Bill Pay > Check Pay > Add/Edit Payment Account.
- Select an account.
- Within the next three days, two micro-deposits will appear in your account. Check your register for the micro-deposits. Please note, these micro-deposits will be withdrawn by Check Pay at a later time. However, the amounts will still be valid for the verification process.
- To enter the verification amounts, select Bill Pay > Check Pay > [Account Name] from the main menu.
- Enter the deposit amounts and select Submit.
- If the amounts are correct, your account will be enabled for Check Pay.
Once your payment accounts are set up, you can begin adding bills.
Adding an online bill
There are two types of bills you can add, an eBill or a manual bill. An eBill accesses a web-based user account to download your bill amount and due date, which it can then use to remind you to pay the bill. These online bills can be paid with Quick Pay.
Note: In Quicken for Mac, payee information from Quicken Bill Pay automatically populates during this process.
To add an online bill:
- Select the Bills & Income tab.
- Under Bills, select + New Bill.
- Select Track.
- Select Next under eBill.
- Search for and select the name of your eBiller.
- Link your bill by entering your login information. It may take some time to process the login and sync the account. If an error occurs, check your login info and try again.
- Click Done when complete. The linked bill will appear on your Bills & Income page. The new bill will appear on the Biller list with the default action Quick Pay.
- You can continue to add more bills using the above method until all of your online bills are set up.
Adding a manual bill
If you cannot access your bill online, or would prefer to track your bill manually, you can add a manual bill. For a manual bill, you supply both the billing amount and the billing date/interval. You also have the option of paying the bill with Check Pay.
- Select the Bills & Income tab.
- Click + New Bill.
- Select Track.
- Select Next under Other Bill or Income.
- In the Transaction Details screen, enter or select the name of the payee in the Payee field. Enter any other relevant information and click Next.
- Set up the schedule and click Next.
- In the Success screen, click Done.
Once you've completed the steps for all your payees, you're all set!
