Overview

If your financial institution has made a change in their branding on the servers due to change in service provider, merger and acquisition, or other significant change, they will create their "new" name on the servers and put "zzz" before the old name until that presence is completely converted and removed from the servers.

If you are encountering an error trying to update your accounts, and that error indicates a problem connecting to the financial institution (ex: CC-899, CC-502 or Error 102, etc.), this might indicate that you still have an account that is activated for the financial institution using the old/outdated "zzz" presence.

How to determine if this is causing your connection error

Quicken for Windows

  1. Open your Account List (Tools > Account List OR Ctrl + A).
  2. If you're not already viewing it, add Show Financial Institution from the Options button at the bottom of the list.

  1. If available, check the Show Hidden Accounts checkbox.
  2. Scroll through the list and look for accounts that are activated for this financial institution, and look for any that show the zzz- before the institution name.

Quicken for Mac

  1. Open the Account List (Accounts > Hide and Show Accounts).
  2. Look down the Financial Institution column for any that show the zzz- before the institution name.

NOTE: If you have not updated your accounts in Quicken for several weeks/months, you may not see the zzz- until you perform an update.

To resolve connectivity errors with zzz- financial institution(s)

Quicken for Windows

  1. Edit each account on the list for the affected financial institution, including Hidden Accounts and including those that do not display the zzz- before the institution's name.
  2. On each Edit, go to the Online Services tab and Deactivate the account. This includes deactivating Bill Pay service for these accounts, where enabled.
  3. Close/Re-open Quicken.
  4. Click the Add Account (plus sign) button at the top of the Account Bar (down the side of Quicken), select Checking, and enter the correct financial institution name.
    • This process is being used simply to force Quicken to discover all active/open accounts available for your login credentials at this financial institution.
  5. When your accounts are found, carefully LINK the found accounts with those that already exist in Quicken.

Quicken for Mac

  1. Uncheck the Hidden In options for any of those for this financial institution that are hidden.
  2. Click on each account name in the sidebar, one at a time, to open the account and choose Settings.
  3. In the Settings for each account, uncheck "I want to download transactions" checkbox.
  4. When all are unchecked, start with your most frequently used account with this institution and open Settings once again.
  5. Choose I want to Download (Assist Me) to get the Setup process presented to you.
  6. Type in the name of the financial institution, without the zzz- before the name.
    • NOTE: If your financial institutions list is outdated because you have not performed an Online Update for several weeks/months, the list should automatically update. If you do not find your institution listed without the zzz-, you may need to manually update the list by clicking on the question mark ( ? ) at the bottom left corner, then choose Update List.
  7. After entering your login credentials and connecting, Quicken will return all active/open accounts available for the login credentials you just entered. Carefully LINK each "found" account with those that already exist in Quicken.

What if I can't deactivate?

If you have not connected to the financial institution's servers before the zzz- name is terminated for access, you may not be able to connect to the servers in order to Deactivate those accounts. This limits your options for resolving the connection errors, and may require assistance from the financial institution's Online Banking Support team to resolve.
