Message When Opening Quicken: Service provider change OK right away
This message is displayed when a financial institution discontinues their Direct Connect service (most common cause), changed their Branding ID, or is no longer available (such as from a merger with another bank). Quicken is attempting to connect, but there is nothing to connect to. It will eventually time out.
If Quicken is frozen with this message, wait a few minutes. If it still stays frozen, force quit Quicken by using the Task Manager in Windows (Ctrl + Alt + Del > Task Manager), then try the steps below.
- Update the transactions for your other financial institutions by performing a One Step Update (Tools > One Step Update). This will download the latest FIDir.txt to your system, which currently has outdated financial institution information listed.
- Close and reopen Quicken.
- If you continue to see the message, follow the steps for How To Refresh Financial Institution Information in Quicken.
- When all else fails, reinstalling Quicken will reset the FIDir.txt file.
