Show Hidden Files and Folders

Follow the steps below to show hidden files and folders on your Windows computer system.

Windows Vista / Windows 7

  1. On the Windows taskbar, right-click Start, and then select Explore or Open Windows Explorer.
  2. On the Organize menu, select Folder and Search Options.
  3. On the View tab, choose Show hidden files and folders.
  4. Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
  5. Select Apply then click OK.

Windows 8 & 8.1

  1. Click the Desktop tile from the Start screen.
  2. On the desktop screen, while holding down the Windows key on your keyboard, tap the X key on your keyboard.
  3. Select File Explorer.
  4. On Libraries window, click View from the menu bar at the top.
  5. Click Options.
  6. Select Change folder and search options.
  7. On Folder Options go to View tab.
  8. In Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives under Hidden files and folders category.
  9. Click Apply then OK.

Windows 10

  1. Click the Windows Start icon.
  2. Choose File Explorer.
  3. Go to the View tab and click Options.
  4. Select Changes folder & search options.
  5. Go to the View tab.
  6. In Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives under Hidden files and folders category.
  7. Click Apply then OK.

Tip: To find out which version of Quicken you are using, open Quicken go to Help menu and select About Quicken.
