Before you begin

  • If you missed any releases, don't worry. You only need to download the most recent release to update Quicken.
  • To check your release version, open Quicken and go to Help > About Quicken. If it's a lower number than the release here (listed in the Release Notes section below), you need to update.
  • The releases provided here are the same ones included when completing a One Step Update. They can also be accessed in Quicken by going to Help > Check for Updates. If you encounter an issue while trying to download and install the patch through One Step Update, you can obtain the patch through the corresponding link below. 
  • If you reinstall Quicken, make sure you've installed the latest patch release before opening your data file; otherwise, you'll be unable to use online services.

How to Install the Update (US and Canada)

  1. Click on the link above for the update you prefer (these steps apply to both).
  2. Choose Save As, then browse to your desktop and save it there. If you get a prompt asking if you want to allow the program to make changes, you will need to allow.
  3. From your desktop, right-click the newly downloaded file QWCA##.#.#.#MPatch or QW##.#.#.#MPatch and select Run as Administrator.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
  5. When finished, you can verify the release version of Quicken by selecting the Help menu in the software and choosing About Quicken.

Release R25.21 (US Versions, Mar 2020)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • Fixed: An issue in which users were incorrectly being prompted to upgrade to use the bill payment option. This occurred on both the One Step Update settings screen and on the Bills & Income tab.
  • Fixed: Minor layout and text issues in the bill payment module.
  • Fixed: An issue cleaning up stale bills that were marked incorrectly with the ‘to be migrated’ status.
  • Improvement: Added customized messaging for City of Palo Alto utilities to clarify the delayed behavior of their payments.

Release R25.18 (US Versions, Mar 2020)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • Fixed: An issue in which bill payment reminders were being skipped.
  • Fixed: An issue that resulted in payment accounts no longer working when a user signed out and then signed in again with the same account.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the dashboard displayed an incorrect amount paid for some online bill payments.

  • Fixed: An issue in which Quicken was crashing when users opened One Step Update Summary and had not selected Show Just Last Update

Release R25.19 (Canada Versions, Mar 2020)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • Improved: Tours (Formerly QCards) has been updated with new content and visual improvements.
  • Improved: Added the ability to start your Quicken experience using Quicken for the Web. This includes the ability to add and remove financial accounts.
  • Improved: Quicken Setup has been improved and includes new content.
  • Improved: When you add a category to a transaction, Quicken now gives you the option to update past transactions for the same payee.
  • Improved: Added keyboard shortcuts for changing dates. Enter w for first day of the week (Sunday). Enter k for the last day of the week (Saturday). Use < and > to move forward or backwards seven days.
  • Improved: Several updates to the user interface, including changes to the register defaults as well as minor text updates.
  • Improved: Added a screen share menu option for when menus are minimized.
  • Improved: Improved financial institution display for Add Account screen.
  • Improved: Find and Replace can now search for blank values in fields.
  • Improved: Added a popular financial institutions list for brokerage accounts.
  • Fixed: An issue in which users received an unnecessary warning message for uncategorized transactions.
  • Fixed: A performance issue that was occurring during the add asset account process.
  • Fixed: Resolved an issue in which the sign-in popup did not display for online services after a user changed the password using an external browser.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the popular financial institutions list did not display.
  • Fixed: An issue in which tax planning information was inappropriately appearing in the Quicken Setup.
  • Fixed: An issue in which some accounts had information missing after being added.
  • Fixed: An issue in which Tips and tutorials and Add on services displayed when they should not have displayed.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the Sign in popup sometimes displayed after a user was already logged in.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the categories list did not update when creating a budget using Quicken Setup.
  • Fixed: An issue in which user profiles were not updating when changing accounts.
  • Fixed: Issues in which incorrect information for the Canadian edition of Quicken was displayed.
  • Fixed: Issues with Mobile & Web synchronization. Synchronization was turned off by default for new users, and personal income / budget information was not synchronizing properly.
  • Fixed: An issue in which deactivating an account triggered One Step Update and added a duplicate account.
