Before you begin

  • If you missed any releases, don't worry. You only need to download the most recent release to update Quicken.
  • To check your release version, open Quicken and go to Help > About Quicken. If it's a lower number than the release here (listed in the Release Notes section below), you need to update.
  • The releases provided here are the same ones included when completing a One Step Update. They can also be accessed in Quicken by going to Help > Check for Updates. If you encounter an issue while trying to download and install the patch through One Step Update, you can obtain the patch through the corresponding link below. 
  • If you reinstall Quicken, make sure you've installed the latest patch release before opening your data file; otherwise, you'll be unable to use online services.

How to Install the Update (US and Canada)

  1. Click on the link above for the update you prefer (these steps apply to both).
  2. Choose Save As, then browse to your desktop and save it there. If you get a prompt asking if you want to allow the program to make changes, you will need to allow.
  3. From your desktop, right-click the newly downloaded file QWCA##.#.#.#MPatch or QW##.#.#.#MPatch and select Run as Administrator.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
  5. When finished, you can verify the release version of Quicken by selecting the Help menu in the software and choosing About Quicken.

Release R24.11 (US Versions, Jan 2020)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • New: A new Setup Panel now provides guided setup for new customers. This handy new sidebar will help those new to Quicken get introduced to some key features: add accounts, categorize transactions, create budgets, manage bills, tax reporting, and more. (see View > Show Quicken Setup).
  • New: Added a new help video about the Mobile & Web companion apps. Click the 'Mobile & Web' tab then click the video icon (see many more help videos at Quicken.com/support or YouTube.com/Quicken).
  • Improved: Added a preference to automate lot assignment when accepting a downloaded sell transaction in an investment account during reconciliation.
  • Improved: Added the ability to specify a currency when creating an invoice.
  • Improved: Added the ability to see the percentage difference in budget reports for both current and past budgets.
  • Improved: Updated the IRS mileage rates for 2020 business vehicle expenses.
  • Improved: Several improvements to the Quicken Help Tour cards, including keyboard navigation.
  • Improved: Removed column 'Linked to Biller' in 'Manage Manual Bills and Income' window.
  • Fixed: An issue in which some customers saw the Update Cash Balance screen when selecting Update Share Balance.
  • Fixed: An issue in which split category amounts could not be found in global searches unless a comma separator was used.
  • Fixed: An issue in which Validate & Repair was not properly resolving unaccepted transactions, which prevented the deactivation of accounts with that issue.
  • Fixed: An issue in which changing a budget amount did not automatically result in an update of the budget report.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the Net Worth report was showing a zero balance in some cases involving employee stock options.
  • Fixed: An issue in which Quicken was unable to import 2019 TurboTax files.
  • Fixed: An issue with the Find and Replace feature.
  • Fixed: Several issues related to the investment register, including an issue in which the printed investment account register did not include all transactions.
  • Fixed: Several issues related to unexpected crashes and errors.
  • Fixed: Several user interface or text issues.

Release R23.21 (US Versions, Jan 2020)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • Fixed: An issue in which One Step Update (OSU) would stop responding for some users. 
  • Fixed: An issue in which users who had chosen to autorenew their subscription were being prompted to manually renew their subscription.

Release R22.15 (Canada Versions, Dec 2019)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • Fixed: An issue in which investment holdings and watch list items created in the desktop application did not appear in the mobile application.

Release R22.14 (Canada Versions, Nov 2019)

Before you install this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud. You should also make a backup of your data file.

  • Improvement: We replaced an outdated problem reporting tool.
  • Improvement: We cleaned up the One Step Update Summary screen for better display of errors and other information.
  • Improvement: Capital One has changed the way you access your accounts through Quicken. For more information about what to expect with this change, please see this FAQ.
  • Fixed: An issue causing subscription expiration notices to appear when there was a problem connecting to the subscription service.
