Before you begin

  • If you missed any releases, don't worry.  You only need to download the most recent release to update Quicken.
  • To check your release version, open Quicken and go to Help > About Quicken.  If it's a lower number than the release here (listed in the Release Notes section below), you need to update.
  • The releases provided here are the same ones included when completing a One Step Update. They can also be accessed in Quicken by going to Help > Check for Updates. If you encounter an issue while trying to download and install the patch through One Step Update, you can obtain the patch through the corresponding link below. 
  • If you reinstall Quicken, make sure you've installed the latest patch release before opening your data file; otherwise, you'll be unable to use online services.

How to Install the Update (US and Canada)

  1. Click on the link above for the update you prefer (these steps apply to both).
  2. Choose Save As, then browse to your desktop and save it there. If you get a prompt asking if you want to allow the program to make changes, you will need to allow.
  3. From your desktop, right-click the newly downloaded file QWCA##.#.#.#MPatch or QW##.#.#.#MPatch and select Run as Administrator.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
  5. When finished, you can verify the release version of Quicken by selecting the Help menu in the software and choosing About Quicken.

Release R22.12 (US Versions, Sept 2019)

Before you take this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud and also make a backup of your data file.

  • New: Created Q cards tour to guide new and existing users through the use of Quicken's primary features. To take the tour, click View Tour on the right corner of the screen below your tabs.
  • New: Added the ability to sync bill reminders (scheduled transactions) with your web and mobile applications. This will help you get reminders through those interfaces. Because the web and mobile apps have their own release schedule, watch those apps for when they add the bill reminder feature.
  • New: Added Annualized Returns and Capital gain % columns to the capital gains report. Users can toggle between the two columns.
  • Fixed: An issue in which One Step Update was causing a silent crash in some instances. Also addressed other issues with One Step Update.
  • Fixed: An issue in which Bills & Income reminders and other scheduled items were unreliable.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the Pay option was displaying when it was not the correct option.
  • Fixed: An issue in which junk characters pre-populated in the cloud name field during new file creation.
  • Fixed: An issue in which users reaching the Paycheck line item limit were unable to make room for new line items by deleting old line items.
  • Fixed: An issue in which Portfolio displayed closed lots with inaccurate information.
  • Fixed: An issue in which an error message box displayed when accepting downloaded transactions for an investment account.
  • Fixed: An issue in which some unlinked bills had incorrect options.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the date was not maintained after selecting Enter/New for investment forms. This occurred in both investment and banking transactions.
  • Fixed: An issue in which the Cash Flow report was showing incorrect numbers when transfers and subtotal by payee were included.
  • Fixed: Several user interface or text issues.
  • Fixed: Several error mapping issues.
  • Fixed: Several issues related to unexpected crashes.

  • Fixed: An issue in which the One Step Update Summary was failing for some users.

Release R21.16 (US Versions, Aug 2019)

Before you take this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud and also make a backup of your data file.

  • Fixed: An issue in which the One Step Update Summary was not properly displaying an error code for restricted financial institutions having multiple accounts.
  • Fixed: An issue in which One Step Update was required after users ran a backup of their data file.
  • Fixed: An issue in which some users were experiencing crashes in the budget module.
  • Fixed: An issue in which a linked Cash Account would not update properly when multiple securities were sold.
  • Fixed: An issue in which Quicken Home Inventory was not passing information properly to Quicken.

Release R19.43 (Canada Versions, Sept 2019)

  • Fixed: An issue that caused CC-501 errors when updating bank accounts.

Release R19.37 (Canada Versions, Aug 2019)

Before you take this update, we recommend you perform a One Step Update to ensure that your data is synced to the cloud and also make a backup of your data file.

  • New: You can now access My Account directly from the Help menu (Help > My Quicken Account). My Account is the place where you can manage your Quicken ID, password, email address, subscription preferences, and more.
  • Improved: We made several user interface enhancements and bug fixes, including returning the search menu to the title bar.
  • Improved: We made several improvements and fixes to the .NET Framework.
  • Fixed: An issue where checking your Membership status from the Help menu did not immediately update the file with the latest expiration date.
  • Fixed: An issue where, after activating your subscription in Quicken, your last used data file was not automatically opened.
  • Fixed: An issue where a change to a transaction’s status made on Quicken on the Web could sometimes fail to sync back to Quicken desktop.
  • Fixed: An issue where the 'new' status (blue icon) of a transaction was not cleared after the transaction was edited.
  • Fixed: An issue where a subscription alert message could still display immediately after the subscription was renewed due to a timing problem with alerts.
  • Fixed: An issue where matching a manual transaction to a downloaded transaction did not retain the Tag or Attachment from the manual transaction.
  • Fixed: An issue where the One Step Update dialog was not displayed even after the 'Download transactions when Quicken starts' preference was set.
  • Fixed: A number of issues that could occur when a budget was synced for display on Quicken Mobile & Web.
