When unlocking Quicken for Windows from a CD, the Next button is grayed out until a valid unlock code is entered.

Note: The unlock code is only valid on the first computer it is purchased on.  If you need to reinstall on a second computer, go here.

Don't see the field to enter your unlock code?

If you use large fonts in your display or have changed the DPI (dots per inch) settings, the dialog asking you to enter your unlock code cannot display a field for you to enter the code. The window will suggest to unlock Quicken, but the Next button is faded and will not display a dialog bog to enter text. If this is the case, follow the instructions below the image to adjust your Windows display settings to use normal fonts and DPI settings.

  • Changing Font Settings
    1. Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Display or Display Properties.
    3. On the Appearance tab, in the Font Size field, select Normal.
    4. Click OK.
  • Changing DPI Settings
    1. Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Display or Display Properties.
    3. On the Settings tab, click Advanced.
    4. Select Normal Size (96 DPI), and then click OK.
    5. If prompted, restart your computer.

If you have an unlock code, but the Next button is grayed out

  1. Close all browser windows and installation dialogs, and then remove the Quicken CD from your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Open the order confirmation e-mail you received when you purchased your unlock code.
Note: If you do not have your confirmation e-mail, contact Quicken Customer Care for assistance.
  3. Highlight the entire unlock code, and press Ctrl+C to copy the code to the Windows clipboard.
  4. Insert the Quicken CD in the CD-ROM drive.
  5. When prompted, select the option to reinstall Quicken, and then click Next
If nothing happens when you insert the CD:
    1. Click the Start button and select Run.
    2. Enter D:\install.exe where D is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click  in the Unlock Code field to place your cursor there, and then press Ctrl+V to paste your Unlock code.
Note: If you are manually typing in your unlock code, you must type it exactly as it appears in your confirmation e-mail. The unlock code is case sensitive and is all upper case.
  8. Verify that the code in the unlock Code field is identical to the code in your confirmation e-mail, and then click Next.
  9. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the  installation.

If you are still not able to unlock Quicken, contact Quicken Customer Care for assistance.
