Overview

Quicken for Mac now offers the ability to import data using CSV (Comma-separated values) files.

Note: Although Quicken for Mac lists its CSV import option as Mint.com File (CSV), any CSV file can be imported as long as the format follows the guideline instructions listed below.

Before you begin

Quicken cannot import Excel (.xls), QuickBooks, PDF, or OFX files. Ensure your file is saved in the CSV file format.

  • The Date, Amount, and Account columns must contain values. The other columns can be blank, but must be present in the file.

  • The FI Payee column is provided for backward compatibility with the former MINT.CSV file format and is not imported.

  • The Amount column allows signed numbers (+ and -). The Amount field should not include dollar signs or commas.

  • The Date column can be formatted as D/M/YY or DD/MM/YYYY.

Important: The Debit/Credit column needs to contain debit or credit, accordingly, for each transaction to correctly display as income or expense.

Import transaction data using a .CSV file

Note: Importing a .CSV file will always create a new account with the same name as the imported file. It is not possible to link imported transactions to an existing account.

1. Choose the File menu > Import > Mint.com File (CSV)...
