How to Import Mint Files

Overview

Need to bring your data from Mint to Quicken? Quicken Classic for Windows gives you the option to import your data!

You'll be able to import your transaction details such as dates, categories, and balances.

First, export your data from Mint.com

  1. Log in to Mint.com.
  2. Go to the Transactions tab.

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper left of the transaction list and select Export ### transactions.

Then, import the Mint file into Quicken Classic

  1. Open Quicken Classic. If you're a new Quicken Classic user and you're prompted with the Let's get started screen, select Start over and create a new data file. Click Get Started.
  2. Type a name for your new Quicken data file and click Save
  3. If prompted, sign with the Quicken ID used to purchase Quicken Classic.
  4. Select if you'd like to sync to Mobile and Web, then click Next.
  5. Click Add Account.
  6. Close the Add Account window and go to File > File Import > Mint-compatible text (.CSV) File.

  1. Select the CSV file you downloaded from Mint.com (this is typically named "transactions" and located in the Downloads folder).

  1. Click Open.
  2. Select Add transactions to a new account of type and select the account type from the dropdown. 

  1. Click OK

After Importing

After the import is complete, review your transactions. You can also make changes to the account by right-clicking it in the Account List and selecting Edit/Delete Account.

You can also go to the Online Services tab and set the account up for transaction download by clicking Set up Now....
