Overview
Retail Purchase Categorization helps you retrieve your Amazon orders, match them to your Quicken transactions, and split them by item. If your orders aren't appearing or matching correctly, the issue may be related to order retrieval, transaction matching, expired sessions, or duplicate transactions.
This article covers common issues and the steps you can take to resolve them.
Before you begin
Retail Purchase Categorization requires Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The feature currently supports Amazon US personal accounts only. Amazon Business accounts and international Amazon websites aren't supported.

Order Retrieval Issues
If your Amazon orders aren't appearing in Quicken, first check the following:
Make sure Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is open and running.
Make sure you're signed in to the correct Amazon account.
Make sure the Retail Purchase Categorization extension is installed and connected.
By default, the extension retrieves new Amazon orders every 24 hours while your browser is running. If your browser hasn't been running for more than 24 hours, the extension attempts to retrieve orders the next time you open it.
Manually Retrieve Your Orders
If your orders still don't appear, you can manually download them:
In Quicken, go to Tools > Retail Purchase Categorization.
Select Download & Match Orders.
If no orders appear, select View Orders. This opens the Retail Extension in your browser.
In the Retail Extension, select the Download icon to retrieve your latest Amazon orders.
Return to Quicken and select Download & Match Orders again.
Quicken will download your Amazon orders and attempt to match them to your existing transactions.
Reconnect the Extension
If the extension has lost its connection to your Amazon account:
Open the Retail Purchase Categorization extension.
Select Set Up.
Follow the prompts to reconnect your Amazon account.
Reconnecting the extension can resolve many connectivity issues.
Transactions Not Matched
Sometimes an Amazon order isn't matched to the correct Quicken transaction.
This can happen when:
The transaction is still pending.
The payee name is different from Amazon or Amzn.
The purchase was made entirely with a gift card or store credit.
The transaction is in a different account than expected.
Check and Match Your Transactions
Make sure the transaction has posted and is no longer pending.
Check the payee name. If it doesn't include Amazon or Amzn, search your register for alternate payee names.
Confirm that the transaction is in the correct account.
If needed, edit the payee name or manually select the correct transaction to match the Amazon order.
Note: Purchases made entirely with a gift card or store credit won't have a corresponding bank transaction to match.
Session or Token Expired
If your Quicken or Amazon session expires, the connection may stop working and prevent new orders from being retrieved. You may see a message indicating that your session or token has expired.
To refresh the connection:
Sign out of Quicken and sign back in.
Sign out of Amazon and sign back in.
Reopen the Retail Purchase Categorization extension.
If the issue continues, make sure your browser is up to date and that the extension has the required permissions.
Duplicate Transactions
Quicken uses unique Order IDs to help prevent duplicate Amazon transactions. However, matching or synchronization issues may occasionally cause the same order to appear more than once.
If you see duplicate orders:
Check the Order IDs to determine whether the same Amazon order was imported more than once.
Confirm whether Quicken's deduplication is working correctly.
If the same order continues to appear multiple times after troubleshooting, contact
Quicken Support for further assistance.
Editing Categories
If the category suggested for an Amazon purchase isn't correct, you can update it from the transaction:
Open the transaction and locate the appropriate split line.
Select the Category field.
Choose the correct category from your category list.
Updating the category helps ensure your spending and budgets are categorized correctly.
Reverting a Transaction
If you want to undo the split and categorization applied to a transaction, you can revert it to its original category:
Right-click the transaction.
Select Revert to Category.
This restores the transaction to its original state.
Other Connectivity Issues
Browser or extension issues can also prevent Amazon orders from being retrieved. These may include an unsupported browser, an outdated browser, or missing extension permissions.
Make sure:
You're using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Your browser is up to date.
The Retail Purchase Categorization extension is installed and active.
The extension has the necessary permissions.
You're signed in to the correct Amazon account.
Tip: When troubleshooting Retail Purchase Categorization, start by checking your browser, Amazon sign-in, and extension connection. These are the most common causes of order retrieval issues.
