Overview

This message is displayed when a financial institution discontinues their Direct Connect service (most common cause), changed their Branding ID, or is no longer available (such as from a merger with another bank). Quicken is attempting to connect, but there is nothing to connect to. It will eventually time out.

To resolve this issue

If Quicken is frozen with this message, wait a few minutes. If it still stays frozen, force quit Quicken by using the Task Manager in Windows (Ctrl + Alt + Del > Task Manager), then try the steps below.

  1. Update the transactions for your other financial institutions by performing a One Step Update (Tools > One Step Update). This will download the latest FIDir.txt to your system, which currently has outdated financial institution information listed.
  2. Close and reopen Quicken.
  3. If you continue to see the message, reinstalling Quicken will reset the FIDir.txt file.
